Ages and classes
What ages does Kiddie Palace take?
Children from 3 months to 6 years, in six classes by age: Grey (3 to 12 months), Yellow (1 to 2 years), Blue (2 to 3 years), Orange (3 to 4 years), Green (4 to 5 years) and Red (5 to 6 years, Grade R). A child can start as a baby and stay until they are ready for Grade 1. See the classes.
Do you take babies?
Yes. Grey Class is a dedicated infant room for babies from 3 months, with its own cots and floor space and a rhythm built around each baby's own feeding and sleeping times. Babies and toddlers also have a separate, fenced play area away from the older children.
Do you offer Grade R?
Yes. Red Class is our Grade R year, for children aged 5 to 6. The focus is school readiness: letters, numbers, listening skills and the independence that makes Grade 1 feel easy.
How many teachers are there per class?
Every class has one teacher and one teaching assistant, all day. Our teachers hold ECD diplomas and our staff are first aid trained.
Hours and fees
What are your hours?
Monday to Friday, 6am to 6pm. A half day runs from 6am to 2:30pm.
How much are the fees?
R4 000 a month for a full day and R3 780 a month for a half day. There is no registration fee and no annual fee, and sibling discounts are available. Phone us to confirm current fees and availability. See the fees.
What do the fees include?
Every meal and snack, cooked fresh on site each day, all arts and craft supplies, the full daily programme and four written reports and assessments a year. The only extras are the optional intramural activities and any visiting coach lessons.
Are you open during the school holidays?
We run four terms a year and close for roughly three weeks over December and January. This year we close on 18 December and open again on 11 January 2027. During the shorter holidays we run activities for our own children at no extra cost.
The school day
Do I need to pack food?
No. Breakfast, a morning snack, lunch and an afternoon snack are all cooked fresh in our own kitchen and included in the fees. There are no lunchboxes to pack.
What does a day look like?
Doors open at 6am for free play, with breakfast at 8. Morning ring is at 9, followed by the day's theme, a snack at 10, gross motor at 10:30 and curriculum work at 11. Lunch is at 11:30, then nap or quiet time from 12 to 2. Afternoons are free play and intramurals, with a snack at 3, and children can be collected any time up to 6pm. See both timetables.
Do the children nap?
Yes. Nap time is from 12 to 2 every day. Older children who no longer sleep have calm or relax time instead.
What extra activities do you offer?
Six intramural activities taught by our own teachers during the school day: Science, Art, Music, Technology, Afrikaans and Engineering. They cost R120 per class and are not covered by the monthly fee. Visiting coaches sometimes offer lessons too, billed at their own rates. See the activities.
Safety and registration
Is Kiddie Palace a registered school?
Yes. We are registered with the Department of Education under EMIS number E68239065 and follow the early childhood development curriculum closely, so children are well prepared for Grade 1. Our company registration number is 2015/396160/07.
How secure is the school?
The grounds are secured with electric fencing, locked gates, alarms and panic buttons, with an armed response service on call. Gates stay locked during the day and every arrival and collection goes past staff.
How will I know how my child is doing?
We have an open-door policy with parents. There is a parent-teacher meeting at the end of every term and you receive four written reports and assessments a year.
